This video talks about experience-based tips and best practices to de-escalate activated and triggered adults and children.

Trauma Training Takeaway: Trauma creates triggers in the minds and emotions of individuals which can lead to quick escalations in situations with little warnings. Triggers can be in the forms of sights, smells, sounds, anniversaries, comments, or even feelings of being out of control or anxious. When an individual becomes agitated and escalated, it is crucial that those responding to them and providing support engage in a trauma-informed manner and remain intentional and in control of themselves. Drawing on relational approaches by talking slowly, softly, and respectfully are all crucial keys to de-escalating an individual.
