The mission of Flipped Table Collective is to bring healing, change,
and justice to and through communities of faith.

We will strive to do this by coming beside those deconstructing to provide resources, facilitate conversations, provide training, host events, and offer connection groups. This is done through a collaborative, ecumenical team of teachers and contributors who share our passion and burden to bring change to faith-based systems.

We recognize that those who are working to heal from religious trauma and deconstruct harmful theology can be clergy, lay leaders, and impacted individuals. Our goal is to create soft spaces for all individuals, no matter their lived experience or current involvement in a community of faith.

We aim to equip faith communities to learn about trauma and how to create trauma-informed ministry and outreach practices in their communities of context.

We also see justice work as an essential component of deconstruction and, therefore, work to weave practical theology around racism, environmental justice, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and economic justice into the holistic work we do in and around faith communities.

We are committed to conducting ongoing research on trauma, deconstruction, faith communities, justice, and negative religious experiences. We hope this data will help inform and shape the decisions of academic institutions, denominational judicatories, faith communities, and local faith leaders.

The root of this mission and vision is our deep prophetic love for the church and our heartfelt belief in the divine design of the community. We grieve the gap between what the church is called to be and the many places where sacred spaces currently create division and demean the image of God in fellow people. The Flipped Table Collective is committed to bridging this gap through advocacy, education, training, and conversations.
