Living Resistance Book Discussion Guide
Book Discussion Guide By Holly Madden
Trauma Training Takeaway: This book honors the courage to deconstruct, gently guided by the author who has indigenous roots. It’s critical that we are aware of how oppressive, violent, and dehumanizing colonizing the US was for Indigenous tribes, and this includes religious oppression as many Indigenous tribes, specifically children who were violently removed from their homes and forced into boarding schools, were ripped away from their own spirituality. Being trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive requires humility to acknowledge the oppression (religious and non-religious) found in our own history and ancestry and the way that still impacts relationships and people groups today.
