Call to Worship: Palm Sunday

Call to Worship: Palm Sunday
Jesus entered the world as an infant, born into obscurity in the rural city of Bethlehem. He was born without human celebration, notoriety, or wealth. Yet as his earthly life approached its end he traveled towards the populated area of Jerusalem. The crowds celebrated him as he passed by chanting and cheering.
Hosanna to the Son of David!
Palm branches were waved and people threw their cloaks on the ground for him to travel over as they shouted in honor of Jesus who they had seen do many amazing works throughout the region.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Many asked who is this man that is being greeted with such fanfare and the crowds responded, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.” Today we also celebrate Jesus, his life, ministry, holiness, and legacy of love that forever changed the world.
Hosanna in the highest heaven!
Prayer
The word Hosanna is a cry for divine help. O God, our helper, help us to center the burden that Jesus carried for the world even as the crowds all around celebrated him. Help us to stay focused on the needs and not the noise in our world today as well. Amen.
