Trauma Training Takeaway: Abraham Maslow created the Hierarchy of Needs to communicate how critical having first basic needs, followed by psychological needs being met before a person can experience fulfillment. This model is used in therapeutic, healthcare, childcare, and academic settings. Individuals are more likely to be dysregulated, struggle with relationships, and with any form of achievement when they are hungry, tired, cold, etc. One thing that faith and community spaces can do is offer small ways to meet basic needs including water, protein snacks, dry socks, etc. (1)
