Trauma Training Takeaways: Black and White thinking (or all-or-nothing thinking) limits our capacity to grow. An important trauma-informed skill is be intentional about slowing down our thinking and being willing to think about topics, questions, or situations from another person’s point of view. Another way to challenge black and white thinking is by listening to and learning from the lived experience of others. This helps us to realize that life seldom fits into binaries and instead there are often a spectrum of nuance to every situation that needs to be considered before we respond or react to someone or something.
