This video, written from a queer church leader perspective, provides some practical ways churches can not only communicate being affirming but put action behind their words to offer safe church spaces for their LGBTQIA+ siblings.

Trauma Training Takeaway: “Safe” is a challenging word as even our best intentions cannot promise that a person will feel safe. It is not enough to be an affirming leader. Creating a felt safety environment takes intention in our actions, language, use of signs, representation, and our willingness to intervene in moments that safety is violated.
